From an unwanted pregnancy to a brilliant child who would go on to become the best graduating student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), the story of Miracle Olawale Olatunde will continue to be an inspiration to many.
Miracle told Muse.ng that when her mum conceived of her, her dad asked the former to terminate the pregnancy but she refused and kept the baby.
Her miracle birth
According to Miracle, doctors had earlier confirmed that it wasn’t pregnancy but fibroid that her mum was carrying, which they intended to remove.

She said it finally turned out to be pregnancy and her mum vowed to keep it against her father’s wish.
The young lady said the doctors who took delivery of her named her Miracle because of the fibroid-pregnancy drama that happened before she was given birth to.
Miracle’s motivation
The first class graduate of Pure and Applied Chemistry said the fact that her father asked her mum to terminate her pregnancy was a major motivation for her to prove herself.
In her words: “This was a major motivation for me. I was hurt that somebody didn’t want me. Why did this person not want me? You don’t even know me yet and you don’t want me.
“It was painful. While growing up, I just wanted to prove myself that I’m worthy of love, that I’m deserving of it.
“People should have both parents. It’s very important. So knowing that my mum gave me her best and she did everything that she could to feel that vacuum, I needed to prove myself, I needed to prove that I was worthy of love.
Miracle said at some point she told herself she was going to prove herself just so her father could regret not wanting her.
In her words: “That was it then. I think it was childish thing, but yes it was my motivation.”
According to Miracle if those strings of events had not happened in her life, she wouldn’t be what she is today.
She said: “Because I think I would have had it easy, and I would be complacent and I would not give my best to things that I did. So thank God things happened the way they did for the glory of God to be made manifest.
“The blind man in the Bible had to be blind just so God’s glory could be made manifest.
“So maybe I had to grow up without a father so that his glory could be made manifest. So if it is God’s will, I am all here for it.”
The young lady said she was elated and shocked when she realised that she was the best graduating student of LAUTECH class of 2020.
Miracle said what she was expecting was faculty or departmental best graduating student, adding that she didn’t know that she would be the overall best graduating student of LAUTECH.
In her words: “I was happy that the whole hard work and consistency paid off.
“I wouldn’t say I did anything different. This is just the hand of God at work. This is just God’s work. Yes I read, I read so much.
“I was consistent with it. I worked so hard. But I knew so many other people who did too. So it wasn’t about what I did differently. Because I don’t think I did anything differently. But I’ve always had that drive, that passion.“
She said she always wants to be the best in everything she does, adding that she has always wanted to be the best student.
Miracle said: “I’ve always dreamt of it. So every single thing I did was channeled towards that. And I’m sure there were other people too with that ambition, with that drive and thirst.
“So I don’t know if it was something I did differently. But God really showed up for me, and I’d just say I’m God’s favourite and he just showed up for me.”
Fielding question on whether she has met her dad, Miracle said: “I have never met my dad. I have never seen him. He could walk past me right now and I would not know he’s the one.
She said her grandfather wanted to connect her with her dad but she didn’t give it too much thought.
In her words: “One time I heard he was in UCH because he’s a medical doctor, according to what they say. He’s a medical doctor in UCH in Ibadan, I don’t know and honestly I don’t care.
Fielding question on whether she has grudges against her father, Miracle said: “Yes I used to have. I used to be so bitter and so angry seeing that I had to struggle to get things that people were getting easily.
“I was bitter as a teenager, I was so angry, I was upset that I had to struggle. Not once though was I sent away for school fees or anything because my mum tried. She tried to cover it all.
According to Miracle, she was angry seeing her mum do menial jobs to provide her with everything she wanted despite the fact that her father was rich.
The young lady said she’s not interested in meeting her father or making up with him even though she no longer has grudges against him.
Miracle said she has a family that loves and supports her and there’s nothing her father wants to give her that she doesn’t already have.
Her social life
Miracle said in as much as she loves studying, she also has a social life, adding that she’s into fashion and modelling.
In her words: “I love looking good, I love dressing well. I model, I sew my designs, I model them. I love travelling, I love adventure, I love meeting new people.”
She said she looks forward to modelling for bigger fashion brands and her own brand.
According to her, she was able to balance all her activities in school and there was no distraction.
She said: “I had time to read, there was time for church, there was time to hang out with friends, there was time for everything, there was time for movies and play. So planning was very key for me.”
What’s next for Miracle?
She said she looks forward in furthering her studies in Medicinal Chemistry. According to Miracle, she wants to go into drug research.
The young lady said her specific research interest is drug discovery, adding that she want to be able to synthesise drugs in the lab and look for new drugs for novel diseases that have no cures yet.
In her words: “I want to be able to do something in that area and be in the forefront of that research line. Yes, my name will be heard again, again and again in drug designing research. I’m looking forward to that.
“And also my fashion business. I’m working towards making it grow bigger. Mimi’s Mode will be heard everywhere. And also, probably I will work on the runway for Fenti or Versace or Gucci or all those big fashion brands, or just influence, fashion influencing and all. I’m looking forward to all of those things. That’s my plan, that’s what’s next for me.”
Miracle advised students that intend to graduate with a first class to believe that it’s possible, adding that they should be studious and prayerful.
She also advised them to read not just for the first class but also for knowledge purpose.
Miracle said: “While at it, have a social life. Have a life outside of all of it. If you’re interested in dancing, go for dancing class. If you’re interested in singing, sing your lungs out, do whatever excites you while on this journey.
The young lady advised students not to wait till they have a first class before pursuing their other interests.
In her words: “No, don’t let life pass you by while you’re just focused on getting that one thing. We can win in so many ways, all round success.”
This is so beautifully written!
